Create the chart for both people
Open the compatibility calculator. Enter each person’s date in their own labeled fields, then select Discover your connection. Check both dates above the result. If you are learning rather than reading a real pair, enter 25 November 2002 and 12 March 1999 as an example. Keep those dates together in your notes so you can reproduce the reading.
Start by agreeing on the purpose of the conversation. You might want to discuss planning time together, sharing responsibilities, or expressing a request. A clear question makes the chart a prompt for a real situation. Reading every position at once often produces a collection of broad statements with no useful next step.
What makes a couple chart different from two personal charts?
A personal chart describes the positions calculated for one birth date. Our couple chart adds corresponding completed positions from two personal charts, then reduces sums above 22 by digit addition. It creates a third, shared diagram. The first person is not the left half and the second person is not the right half.
The combined chart therefore cannot tell you which partner is responsible for a conflict. Its center is not either person’s individual center, and its love line is not a combined score. If you want to explore an individual theme, open the personal calculator separately and keep that interpretation distinct from your shared reading.
Read the example center: 8 + 5 = 13
The personal centers for the example pair are 8 and 5. Their combined center is 13, which stays 13 because it is already within 1–22. This site names Arcana 13 Death and reads its theme as endings and renewal. The name is symbolic; it does not predict bereavement, separation, or another event.
In a shared reading, translate that theme into an ordinary question: which routine no longer works for us, and what would we like to replace it with? One person might mention how plans are changed; the other might mention expectations around messaging. Both answers can be useful without proving that the number describes the relationship.
- Name one shared habit that currently works.
- Name one routine you would both like to revise.
- Choose one replacement you can try for a week.
- Agree when to review it and how either person can change their mind.
Follow the combined love line: 15 → 12 → 6
For the example dates, the combined relationship entry D1 is 15, the heart point is 12, and the shared balance K is 6. Read them in that order. These are paired completed positions. Rebuilding the heart from combined entry and balance would produce another value, so use the same documented construction throughout.
The table offers editorial prompts for each position. They are examples of how to ask a question, not statements about what either partner must feel. Let each person respond in their own words and decline any framing that does not fit.
| Position | Theme | Conversation prompt |
|---|---|---|
| D1 · 15 | Attachment | Which expectation should we say aloud? |
| Heart · 12 | Perspective | What might I be missing about your experience? |
| K · 6 | Connection and choice | What agreement do we both choose freely? |
Try a short conversation with one concrete outcome
Begin with separate notes. Each person writes one observation about the chosen topic, one thing they appreciate, and one request. Share these before reading the symbolic themes. This makes it easier to notice whether the chart adds a useful question, rather than letting a ready-made description replace what you meant to say.
Take turns explaining your own experience. Ask for a concrete example if a statement sounds broad. Finish by choosing one action with an owner and a review date, such as confirming weekend plans on Thursday. At the next conversation, discuss whether that action helped. The result of the experiment matters more than agreement with the reading.
Avoid assigning good and bad numbers to partners
A larger number is not a better partner. Repetition is not proof of stronger attraction, and a difficult-sounding Arcana name is not evidence of a doomed relationship. Because chart formulas reuse earlier positions, repeated values can arise from arithmetic alone. Read each occurrence in its actual location.
The diagram also cannot reveal another person’s private thoughts. Saying “the chart proves you are controlling” replaces a conversation with an accusation. Describe the behavior you observed and the change you want instead. A useful prompt makes room for disagreement; it does not give one person authority over the other.
Can a couple chart identify a soulmate or marriage date?
No. This calculator provides neither a validated compatibility percentage nor a forecast of when you will meet, marry, or separate. Two dates do not supply the history, choices, expectations, and circumstances that shape a relationship. Matching numbers cannot guarantee a shared future.
Use the chart only if both people find the exercise helpful. Evaluate a relationship through communication, respect, boundaries, and consistent actions. If the chart creates pressure to accept a decision you do not want, set the exercise aside. Participation and interpretation should remain optional.
